One of the myths about counselling is that it needs to be a face to face consultation for the work to be effective.
I was doing telephone counselling through Anxiety UK long before Coronavirus. I saw the progress my clients made using this medium. The same is true for consultations via Zoom and Skype. Online counselling works.
I think for the time being it is sensible to assume that consultations are online, unless there is a specific reason why this is not possible. Online consultations have their advantages. A wider choice of appointment slots and no cost in terms of travel time and parking.
For people living in Basingstoke and North Hampshire, access to counselling has probably never been more important. Everybody’s resilience has been tested by COVID19. Many people will benefit from a short course of work with a counselling professional.
